My amazing sister Jenny donated a kidney to a stranger just a few weeks ago (http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/features/9033151.Giving_a_kidney_to_a_complete_stranger/).
Her generosity has completely transformed someones life, and incredibly, just 8 weeks after the operation, she has signed up to a London-Paris cycle ride to raise money to enable more people to benefit from this life-changing surgery.
She has so inspired me that I have committed to join her in this challenge, cycling around 500 km in 5 days, and completing more than 1300 miles during training!
We will be raising money for "Transplant links", The medical technology in this country is amazing once a kidney becomes available. However, there are developing countries where people simply cannot afford to be on dialysis and die because their medical teams are not trained to perform related living kidney transplants.
"Transplant Links" send medical teams to these countries teaching their surgeons and medical staff how to perform successful related living kidney transplants.
Neither of us have done anything like this before, but it is for a fantastic cause and we would really appreciate any sponsorship, however small, to help us change lives. Jenny gave a kidney - we can't all do that, but a few pounds could change someones life. www.justgiving.com/wendypowell
